It's common in the first days of life for a baby to have trouble latching on or maintaining sucking at the breast. If this problem doesn't go away, more help is needed. A baby must be able to remove enough milk from the breast through correct latch and sucking to gain weight. This milk removal then tells the breasts to increase or maintain milk production. If the baby doesn't get enough milk, he or she will have poor weight gain.

Infant Suck Relearning
Both before and after a tongue tie revision , it is important to help a tongue-tied baby learn how to use his mouth properly to breastfeed effectively. Start these before the revision takes place. Your baby can learn a few things about how his mouth is supposed to move before the process and both of you can become accustomed to these exercises prior to the procedure so that they are not troublesome afterward. Practice these exercises three to five times a day, before most daytime breastfeeding sessions.
Use these exercises before feeding or as a playtime activity. Be sure to stop any exercise that Baby dislikes. It is not necessary to do every exercise; only use those that are helpful for your baby.
